about
This track is just one of many cuts from the infamous "Spleen Incident" recording sessions. It is obvious listening to the band play that it was time of great turmoil and strife. The beloved free jazz trio was on the verge of calling it quits, but they had to record one last track due to contract obligations with Walrus Egg Productions. Throughout the recording, hateful glares were cast, and punches were thrown. At about 4:57, the trio's fury manifests in Neu's loudest note ever played on a tenor sax (verified world record). Hibbs' was so enraged he refused to play initially at the beginning of the take. Gurney insisted on noodling, much to the distaste of his fellow band mates (who hate noodling). However, after the mics went off the band seemed to make amends. To this day, however, they have not recorded nor performed together.
